The float home perfectly fits into a 12-meter marina berth, this floating home (affectionally named Blue Turtle) is wonderfully designed to be open, spacious, and fully featured despite its compact size. The Blue Turtle has two bedrooms, and a spacious bathroom and enjoys a wonderful open plan kitchen, dining, and living space upstairs, all with wrap-around decks for amazing indoor/outdoor living. The floating home is located close to Auckland City, this houseboat has panoramic views across the marina and over towards the city beyond. The tiny home was inspired by the floating home community at Fisherman's Wharf in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

The idea of the floating homes stuck with Olivia after she was back home in New Zealand, who loves being on the water and the home provides that opportunity to have the space the couple needed while also being close to the water. Neither are strangers to being on the water, with Ryan living on a yacht for 3.5 years at the same marina where he met Olivia at her floating home and eventually moved in. Ryan kept the yacht and the couple use it as a means to get away about once a month to enjoy the ocean. The floating home serves as their home, and the yacht as their holiday home so they have the best of both worlds. Before building her floating home, Olivia worked as a nurse on a Science vessel. The vessel was doing filming for Blue Planet Series which proved to be an incredible experience for her.

The style of the houseboat is a plywood base, plywood with fiberglass, and the hull of the boat is catamaran style, with two different pontoons on either side.

The floating home has a lot of storage built-in with 2 big hatches on the outside, where they hold tools and diving gear. Inside all of the storage is underneath the floor. The floating home has two levels with outdoor decks. The two-level floating home fits perfectly into a 12-meter berth. The floating home was transported to the marina by the ocean which had white caps during its voyage, but the houseboat managed to do fine.

The name is Blue Turtle with blue being Olivia's favorite color, and turtles carrying their home with them out on the ocean.

Once you are inside you can barely tell that you are in a houseboat. The tiny home has normal ceiling heights, and it is mostly painted white to give a feeling of spaciousness. The floating home floor plan has the bedroom downstairs on the main floor with a higher window for privacy and less movement making it more comfortable for sleeping, and the upstairs is the living space.
