Peach Blossom Island is a popular spot in the Zhoushan archipelago and is also the seventh biggest island in the southeast of Zhoushan, located opposite Mount Putuo and Zhujiajian.
Initially, there were no peach trees on the island and got its name from the black patterns on local stones which resemble branches of peach blossoms. The island became famous later because of a famous martial arts novel, The Legend of the Condor Heroes written by Louis Cha (Jin Yong).
Peach Blossom Island is a picturesque and peaceful island, where the Martial Arts Master Huang Yaoshi and his daughter lived in the novel.
A theme park has been built with thousands of peach trees, which is a prototype of the island in the novel. Later, many historical buildings were constructed here, making the island an exceptional sea island spot for filming.
The island is covered with rugged strange rock formations, scattered reefs, and rolling hills, Peach Blossom Island is famed for its spectacular scenery.
There are more than 60 scenic spots in total, including the Baique Temple, Taohua Valley, Tawan Golden Sand Beach, Anqi Peak, and Taohua Village. The view of Anqi Peak is breathtaking and splendid, and the Baique Temple, with a 1000-year-old history, is said to be the place where Kwan-yin practiced Buddhism, a spot worthy of visiting.
