You'll want to take a closer look at this luxury motorhome that comes from Germany that was priced at $1,700,000 in 2017 (2.4 million in 2021).
The German Performance S is the latest model in Volkner Mobil’s lauded Performance series of motorhomes, and much like its predecessors, it’s a 5-star hotel that you can park wherever you like. The sleek and stunning 40-foot luxury vehicle contains a double bed, a fully-equipped kitchen, a spacious lounge area, and a heated bathroom. In case all of that isn’t enough, the pricey caravan even has a garage with an electrohydraulic lift, and it suits everything from a Ferrari to a Mercedes. Shop Tiny Homes
The expensive motorhome also comes with a mid-mounted car garage in place of the rear garage on the Variomobil, so the weight from the BMW i8 or Porsche you might bring along is concentrated low and center.
The Performance S also has a much larger electrical system with 1700 amp-hours of battery storage and 1,200 watts of solar, interior comfort guaranteed by five heaters and three air conditioners, and driver cab seats that look as comfortable as TV room recliners. All those amenities will make you forget that you are on the road, but the most expensive motorhome of Dusseldorf 2017 will cost you several times the price of a pretty nice house.
The motorhome has everything from heated floors to multiple televisions and bathrooms, making it nicer and larger than many houses.
And with a seven-figure price tag, it has all the comforts of home. This is perfect for full-time RVers, and permanent travelers. Typically towing a trailer with a large RV, can be a cumbersome task. It's hard to back up, difficult to maneuver in adverse weather or challenging roads, and prohibitive when it comes to finding a campground that'll accommodate such a large setup.
Wuppertal, Germany-based Volkner Mobil has another solution in the form of its lower-level, side-load vehicle garage that is nestled between the front and rear axles.
There is a vehicle platform that replaces traditional storage compartments in the belly of the coach, completely concealing the fact that there's a car on-board. The loading method is also a bit different. If you've seen this sort of setup before, there's a good chance it was a Volkner rig. The Volkner coaches feature the ludicrous ground floor central garage, full air suspension, slide-outs for more interior room, and ridiculously posh ultra-modern interior designs. The Volvo-based, Volkner-modified coaches also include collision warning, emergency brake assist, lane departure warning, and cruise control.
The Variomobil Signature 1200 from Dusseldorf is much closer in price to the Performance S than its base price would have you believe, coming in around 1.5 million as displayed, according to a press release put out by the Caravan Salon.
The Performance S price is quoted for the model on show. So, if you are hoping to set off on the open road, but you’re not ready to leave behind all the comforts of your penthouse or luxury mansion, the Performance S just might be the perfect adventure vehicle for you, provided you have about 2 million dollars to spare.
