The Raven Rock sleeping cabin is a luxury camping cabin that straddles the Eastern Continental Divide with panoramic views of the Great Smoky Mountain Range, Raven Rock Treehouse, and Hooper's Creek Valley.
The wood cabin is just 20 minutes from Asheville Airport and 25 minutes to Biltmore Estate in Asheville. It is only 10 minutes from historic Hendersonville and 20 minutes to Chimney Rock Park and Lake Lure. The cabin has an open-air deck for stargazing, or you can just relax and take in the views of this rustic valley that time forgot. During your vacation stay you can hunker down in the solid timber framed insulated cabin and enjoy the wild mountain elements in front of the fire. Access to the cabin building is well maintained but too steep for just a 2 wheel drive, you'll need a 4 wheel drive only to get to the cabin. There is 2 wheel drive parking with a 15-minute hike to the cabin. The bathroom is a clean portable toilet that is just 50 feet from the cabin. There is a grill on the deck and a 5-gallon dispenser with fresh spring water. The solar generator will operate a laptop and charge phones and operate small appliances. The cabin has a supply of kindling and a crate of precut wood. The stove takes 12-inch logs.
You will need to bring along your queen-sized sheets, bedding, and towels.
The cabin site is off-grid with no wifi, however, the 3G is excellent. There is a gravity spring-fed spigot and hose to rinse off (be warned that it is very cold). The wood cabin sits on 40 acres with 10 acres of high mountain pasture to explore and hike. Please note that you do not want to leave any food outside the venue, the bears may be extremely shy but hungry. If you get up before dawn, and are quiet and still, and lucky you may also see bobcats, fox, deer, turkey, hawks and falcons, grouse, owls, and of course ravens.
